Evil celebration is not just harmless fun, it is a participation in the works of darkness. According to the Bible, taking part in such things means opening the door to serve Satan rather than God. Halloween is one of the greatest deceptions of the devil. Many people, including Christians, celebrate it without realizing its roots in darkness and rebellion against the Lord.

The enemy uses sweet temptations, like free candies and fun traditions, to disguise his lies. Just as he deceived Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden to the fruit and he continues to trade lies against the truth of God today.

And no wonder, for Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. 2 Corinthians 11:14

Many Christians justify participating in Halloween, thinking, “It’s only candy, it’s harmless.” But in reality, it is not harmless. When we take part in practices that glorify darkness, even in small ways, we move away from the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Instead of joining in the world’s ways, believers are called to use every opportunity to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. Ephesians 5:11

God commanded Adam and Eve not to eat from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil Genesis 2:17. Even though the fruit looked good, God did not permit them to take part in it. Likewise, today God warns us not to mix with the knowledge or works of evil, no matter how “good” or “fun” they may appear.

Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light and light for darkness. Isaiah 5:20

We live in a world that values culture over obedience. Many say, It’s just our culture, but culture is never more important than obedience to God. When we obey God through Christ Jesus, we show our love for Him.

If you love Me, keep My commandments. John 14:15

Obedience is not about earning salvation, it is the evidence of our love and faith in Jesus Christ. The Bible promises that those who obey God will have the right to the Tree of Life.

Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life. Revelation 22:14

Many people follow worldly traditions because they fear rejection or want to fit in. But Jesus said:

He who endures to the end shall be saved. Matthew 24:13

Conclusion

There is a clear difference between the children of God and the children of Satan. Those who belong to God Walk in light; those who follow the world walk in darkness.

In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God. 1 John 3:10

Even though many cannot see God with their eyes, they still believe in the visible works of darkness. But the Word of God calls us to live by faith, not by sight 2 Corinthians 5:7. So before taking even a simple piece of candy from an evil celebration, stop and think is this pleasing to God?

Let us not be deceived. Let us walk as children of light, spreading the truth of Jesus Christ wherever we go.

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light. Ephesians 5:8
